The early days

The Running Birds were formed more than ten years ago in Ventimiglia a small Italian town next to the French border.

United by the same passion for 70′s rock ,the band in the beginning started jamming songs from bands such as Deep Purple,The Rolling Stones,Led Zeppelin,The Who and The Doors,to name a few.

After a couple of years they started  writing their  own songs and touring  Rock venues and festivals widley  across Europe: France,Italy,Czech Republic,Switzerland,Germany,Holland,Denmark, Spain and England.

Ian Paice and The Running Birds

In the summer of 2006 the Running Birds had the chance to play for the first time in a festival next to Milan (Italy) with Deep Purple’s drummer Ian Paice
together with him they played  some Deep Purple songs and some classic of’ rock like Hendrix,Cream,The Who,Little Richard and others.

Studio sessions with Paicey

On July 30th 2009 The Running Birds  and Ian Paice met each other for the second time to recorded four songs :
« Blast me Away« , »Away from Yourself« , »Smoothness » and « Sound of the Ground« .

The 31st of July Ian Paice and The Running Birds debuted these 4 new songs in a concert in Bordighera(Italy).
This concert,that showcased  some Deep Purple classics for a total of 2 hours performance, was filmed by a professional team and The  DVD (The Running Birds featuring Ian Paice Live)  was created.

The New album

In January 2010 the Running Birds retuned to the studio to complete the new cd with 11 songs.
This new album  contains also the four tracks recorded in 2009 with Ian Paice.
